The pensions market has been a hive of activity over the last few years. With
the amount of new regulation that has recently been introduced, this may not be
too surprising.
The establishment of the Pensions Regulator, the Pensions Protection Fund, the
changes brought about on A day (ostensibly to simplify the tax regime)
and the most recent Finance Acts have meant that pension lawyers have never been
busier.
Combine this with a Government keen to encourage private pension provision as
a way of dealing with an ageing population and it is not surprising that law firms
have been scouring the land in search of talented individuals to bolster their
ranks.
Given these factors, it is understandable that the need for able solicitors and
other pension professionals remains strong. Currently though, one of the perceived
issues facing pension lawyers is the seeming lack of opportunity outside of private
practice which, in itself, tends to converge around the main city centres.
This apparently somewhat static situation does not look likely to change in the
short-term . For that reason, our candidates are encouraged to explore all available
opportunities as fully as possible. As you would expect, with the tight-knit nature
of the industry, it is imperative that when moving you do so with your eyes open
and with as much information available on each and every practice.
Pensions is one of our niche areas. We understand the nature of the opportunities
outside of private practice and have detailed knowledge and experience of the
private pension practices throughout the UK. If you are thinking about moving,
make certain that you have done your due research as fully as possible. You would
definitely do thorough due diligence for your client, so why not let us help you
do the same for you. |

"Ian’s detailed knowledge of employment law departments and individual
employment lawyers is second to none. I value his opinion, and would have no hesitation
in recommending him for employment law recruitment. Ian genuinely cares, and takes
pride in his work, which shows by the way he looks at the fit when placing people."
